Music in Puerto Rico was originally influenced by Spain and African and then by the USA as well as developing it’s own styles.
Early music styles included Jibaro which was Spanish influences and Bomba which was influenced by slaves brought over from Africa. Other early forms of folk music include Plena and Danza.
Later popular forms of music include Bolero, Merengue and Salsa.

Mofungo is very popular in Puerto Rico. It's made from mashed plantain, seasonings and filled with either shrimp, seafood, pork or vegetables.
